Suttrusoozhal puthiya kalvi , a periodical magazine on environmentand education, started its publication in the year 1986 on aquarterly basis. It became a monthly magazine from the year 1993.It has been published by “ Justice Bahavati -EnvironmentDevelopment Institute” located at Peace Trust,Dindigul. It aims tobring a deep insight on the difficulties in implementing world levelprotection plans,new economic policies,marching of globalcommercial institutes,the impact of pressurizing the worldcountries by the world bank and other funding agencies. Also thebook improvises the knowledge on environmental crisis around uslike air pollution,water pollution,soil contamination,bio-diversity,climate change etc., youth empowerment andemployability,sustainable agriculture,agri-product marketing,etc. Italso aids in understanding the UN systems, schemes implementedby UNESCO and Government Think tank committies through itssimple and elegant way of writing.It was first started by the world known environmentalist and philanthropist Dr.J.Paul Baskar, who has also done his research on “Environment education through mass media”. He firmly believes that the quality of life in tomorrow’s world hinges on our ability to understand the world around us and to provide solutions to important environmental issues through this magazine. Also the issues are complex because they are about the natural environment and impacts of humans who live in and depend on that environment. So he finds Sutru soozhal Puthiya Kalvi an essential and effective tool in communicating information about the environmental issues to all sections of the society.The magazine was published as printed monthly periodical and its digital edition in the website simultenously till November 2017, after which it is available only as an online magazine in the digital print. We are hoping to bring back the printed edition of our magazine very soon.
