Pasumai Community Radio station is implementing the Radio Mathematics Project with the participation of the local communities. Weaving communities in Nagal Nagar, one of the major handloom production centres in Dindigul district is the main target group of the project. These weavers are active listeners of the Pasumai community radio programme. A total of 180 episodes on Mathematics are produced and broadcasted for 20 minutes a day since 15th April 2018. The functional Mathematics skills and knowledge like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentage, wage calculation, cost benefit analysis, business plan, breakeven analysis using calculators and mobile phones are being provided to the weavers. The programmes are repeated thrice a day, this repeat cycle is also discussed at advisory committee meetings and it would follow logic, i.e. popular time slot by the community members during baseline study.
